Happy Math & Music Monday!
I hope everyone’s Monday is off to a great start! I hope you’re LOVING this time of year as much as we are. We love to spend our time outside doing different activities together. I am so excited to share with you this week’s blog. We had a family discussion and picked our top 5 fall family favorite things to do when the weather turns a little cooler. We hope you love them as much as we do. We would also LOVE to hear about your fall family favorites. Be sure to send me an email or comment below.
“Sometimes the most ordinary things can be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people.” – Elizabeth Green
Isn’t this quote so good!? I just love it. It’s perfect for this week’s topic, and it’s such a great reminder to me that we don’t have to have big expensive things with the girls to make them meaningful and memorable… often it’s the little things that matter most. With this in mind… let’s check out our top 5 fall family favorites in no particular order.
Go to a Pumpkin Patch:
I feel like pumpkin patches have stepped up their A-game. I don’t remember having these amazing pumpkin patches when I was little. We have two favorite pumpkin patches that we like to go to each year. Our first one is our local pumpkin patch that supports a local charity. It’s smaller but a lot of fun. Our second favorite is Pumpkinville at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City. It’s bigger and the girls really love all the fun activities. Be sure to follow along on our Instagram @mathandmusicmommy this week to see more of our pumpkin patch fun.
Go to a Football Game:
Whether it’s jr. high, high school or college we love to go to football games and be outside together. We especially LOVE to go to OU (University of Oklahoma) football games. Every year, when the weather gets a little cooler, we always take the girls to a game. I grew up going with my parents and we have decided to pass down the tradition with our girls. There is something so magical about the atmosphere.
Math and Music Activity Song:
One of the girls’ ALL TIME FAVORITE math and music songs from our school program, “All Aboard, the Music and Math Connection,” is “Sneaky Cat.” It’s the perfect fall activity song. It was even one of my students’ all-time favorites. It’s about a very sneaky cat that loves to sneak after a bird. It also has children experience patterns, which is a super important mathematical and life skill. Be sure to go check it out this week. Click here to see it in action…”Sneaky Cat Blog.”
Make a Fire Outside:
This time of year makes me want to just live outside. I LOVE our fire pit and making fires outside. We also love to make smores! Please don’t mind the size… sometimes Pody makes the fires a little big lol. No one was hurt building this fire.
Go for “Adventure” walks around the neighborhood:
Sometimes a simple walk around our neighborhood is the perfect way to end the day. We love to go for walks together. Sometimes the girls ride their bikes while we just walk and see what we can find. Extra bonus… it gets the wiggles out and we all get some exercise too!
Bonus Fall Activity:
Ok… So we are going to give something new a try this year. True confession, Pody and I bought this tent about 17 years ago together and it has NEVER been out of the box. Lol The girls have REALLY been wanting to have a “camp out” so we are going to give it a try. Stay tuned to my Instagram page @mathandmusicmommy to see how it goes. I am sure it will be an exciting adventure. Lol
I hope you all have a wonderful week and that this blog encourages you. Again, we would love to hear from you… please share your family favorites with us! We are always looking for new adventures to try! Let’s make it a great week!
