Sneak Peek: Ally Dog Song!

Happy Math and Music Monday!

This is an exciting week!  This week we will launch to our website the 8th Math and Music Video and Activities.  This month’s video is a special one. It is one of the favorites from our Music and Math School Program/Curriculum.  It’s also one of our family favorites because it is all about our precious Ally Dog.

Fun back-story: This song was written by my Mom and arranged/composed by my Dad.  This song was written when we first started developing our Music and Math Program.  Back then, I knew that Ally Dog had to be a character on our learning journey. And yes, I am sure you are wondering, Ally Dog could do all of these tricks!   The other great thing about the “Ally Dog Song” is that it helps children experience and practice the concept sequential order!

Fun Fact

“Sequential Order: the succession of events in the order they occur.  This may be represented by ordinal numbers, musical pitches, etc. “ – AAMMC

Did you know we use sequential order EVERY DAY!  To tell you the truth, before we started writing this program, I’m not sure I ever stopped and thought about this fact, but the crazy thing is we do. We use it everyday.  Every time you decide what needs to happen first, second, and third in your day, you are creating an order. This happens not only in our daily lives but also in math and in music.  Think about it… music is in a specific sequential order and if it were to be changed, it wouldn’t be the same song anymore. The same thought holds true in math. If you have a number and then reorder it, it’s not the same number anymore.  Ok – have I convinced you that sequential order is an important concept yet? Lol I mean we don’t want our children walking around with their socks outside their shoes do we? Lol

Ok, without further ado, let’s take a sneak peek of the Ally Dog Song Music Video!

Connor and Ally are ready to show you all of Ally Dog’s Tricks!
Ally Dog’s first trick is Wave, wave, wave!
Meet Chandler Jackson! He is our amazingly talented professional puppeteer!

Ok – two more fun behind-the-scenes facts for my wonderful blog readers…  these are things to look for in the math and music activities and video.

1 – The audio recording/download for the activities is sung by my Mom and me, be sure to take a listen.

2 – See if you can spot the Ally Dog picture in the video.  This was our original design for Ally Dog.

Thanks for stopping by!
