New Traditions!

Happy Math & Music Monday!

Can you believe it? We are only 2 days away from Christmas! I am excited for Christmas, but a little sad too. I can’t believe it’s almost over. I love this time of year and will be sad to see it go. I feel like I just got my tree and house decorated (oh wait, I did, lol) and now it’s almost time to take it all down. It just went too fast. I am super excited for this week’s blog. This week I am sharing with you TWO NEW traditions we are adding to our Christmas morning plans. I’m so excited to give them a try and add them to the list.

Fun Quote

“Learn something new. Try something different. Convince yourself that you have no limits.” – Brian Tracy

I love this quote. It’s so good for so many different reasons, don’t you think? I thought it was the perfect quote for this week’s blog. I think it’s a perfect “words to live by” quote, and I think it applies to our new traditions for Christmas. These new traditions are exactly this: 1) The girls and I learning something new (a new recipe) that my sister-in-law found online; and 2) a new craft we are going to try that I saw on Instagram! Be sure to follow me on Instagram @mathandmusicmommy to see how everything turns out!

First, let’s talk FOOD! This year for Christmas morning we are going to make Overnight Sweet Rolls aka “Sticky Buns!”   I have never had these but they look and sound amazing! Click here: “Overnight Sweet Rolls” for the recipe and directions. Thank you for the inspiration!

Quick tip (from my Sister-in-law – the amazing cook and has made these before):

  • She puts hers in the refrigerator to rise overnight and then gets them out a few hours before baking them in the morning to let them finish rising.
  • She uses Rhodes Rolls.

After we have eaten these delicious “Sticky Buns” and opened our gifts… It’s time for a craft! Ok, I have a confession… I LOVE Nutcrackers! One thing we do every year with the girls is go to Hobby Lobby and pick out a new Nutcracker. (Quick tip- we go before Thanksgiving! One year we waited and they were all gone! It was so sad.) This year I noticed that they have Nutcrackers you can paint, but I wasn’t really sure what to do with them.

Not long after, I saw this amazing photo (photo below) and idea on Instagram. I follow this super cute young Mom, Kenady, and she had the cutest idea! Thank you so much, Kenady Nashert, for the inspiration! Click here @kenadynashert to see her page and all she does! If you’re on Instagram and not following her… you are missing out!

Aren’t they amazing!? The girls and I are so excited to give this a try and make it one of our NEW traditions. Plus, the Nutcrackers are on super sale at Hobby Lobby right now! I plan to keep them and add them to our collection, but Kenady’s great idea was to give them to the grandparents as a gift! Isn’t that such a great idea! Be sure to check back to see how ours turn out. I’ll post our photos on Christmas day!

I hope we have inspired you to try something new this year! I also hope you all have a very Merry Christmas! From our family to yours Merry Christmas!

Don’t’ worry…we do have some SUPER Fun things planned this week! Be sure to follow us this week on our Facebook Page and Instagram! You won’t want to miss it. We have a fun NEW Christmas Joke on Tuesday for “Tell A Joke Tuesday!” A super fun Christmas “Projects with Pais on Wednesday” and a really yummy one on Saturday for “Cooking with K!” PLUS lots more in between!
