Happy Math and Music Monday!
Ok, so do you agree? Is the New Math and Music video your favorite too? If you will remember from last week, I said that the girls were so excited about this new video and they said it was their very favorite! If you haven’t already, I hope you will go check out our latest video, “Monkey in the Middle!” It’s for sure one of my favorites too!
This week, I am excited to share with you our experiences with this video and activities. It has been so much fun to see our girls not only find the middle of things, but also apply the middle concept to some of the other concepts, i.e. finding the middle of a triangle… etc. I hope you will see this in your home too.
“Fundamentals are the building blocks of fun!” – Mikhail Baryshnikov
This quote is a good one and is perfect for this week’s blog. I think unless you work with young children or are around young children, it’s easy to forget that we do need to start with, but not limit them to, learning the basic learning concepts. To adults, it might seem like an important topic, when really, you have to understand the concept, so you can move onto the next level of learning. This is so important and applies perfectly with this month’s video, Monkey in the Middle. While finding the middle of something might seem simple, it is really a building block to many learning and life skills; just ask an educator.
Monkey in the Middle: If you haven’t already, I hope you will go check it out.
We first went to the website: allydogdepot.com and scrolled down to the video, “Monkey in the Middle!” Of course, our girls could not wait to watch it. So, that’s just what we did.
Before we got going on the activities, we talked about finding the middle. The girls even found the middle of each other’s face. Oh, and we had to watched the video a second time. Lol.
Then it was time to print the activities and get to work off the computer. Our first activity was coloring our monkey. While we colored, we talked about finding the middle of things. They couldn’t wait to finish coloring, so they could go find the middle of things around our house. They really loved the hunt!
Then it was time to find the middle of the SONG! I love this activity. I love that it shows children that it’s possible to do this. The girls had a lot of fun. That drum beat really gets you moving! Lol.
Then it was time to make our sandwiches. The girls were excited to make a sandwich like Connor did on the video. Oh, and Kinley colored her toast black because Mommy left it in the toaster too long, lol. That’s right, folks, it happens. Lol
We had so much fun doing these activities! Then, real life happened and it was time to go to our next activity for the day … so I plan to bring these last activities out later this week to continue the learning fun. If you want to follow us and see how we use them, be sure to follow me on Instagram @mathandmusicmommy or Facebook @allydogdepot.
Thanks for stopping by!
We hope you all have a wonderful Math and Music Monday or even a wonderful Math and Music WEEK! As always, we would love to hear from you on how things are going!
Oh, and if you like what you see, please share with a friend!
