Happy Math & Music Monday!
I hope everyone’s Monday is off to a great start! Did you know that today is Dr. Seuss’s birthday? It is also “National Read Across America Day” so it’s a big day! We are big fans of Dr. Seuss in our home. The Dr. Seuss books were some of the first books the girls could read. So, for this week’s activities we thought we would share with you some of our favorites. We will also tie them to some of our favorite Math and Music activities too! You won’t want to miss it.
“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter that you think and twice as beautiful as you’ve ever imagined.” – Dr. Seuss
I love this quote, but I have to say that Dr. Seuss has SO MANY great quotes that it was hard to pick just one for this week. SO, I will be posting this week on our Facebook and Instagram pages not only this week’s activities, but also some of our very favorite Dr. Seuss quotes! Be sure you are following along! Isn’t this quote so good? I think this is so true and such a great reminder. It’s something I think we all need to hear from time to time.
Ok, let’s get going… This week is going to be a super fun week as we celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with and little Math and Music fun too! To get us going, I had the girls pick some of their favorite Dr. Seuss books and reread them. From there we designed some fun activities that we’ll be doing this week, so be sure to follow along on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
This book “Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can you?” is super cute and is a perfect example of sequential order. We also love that this book encourages children to make some super silly and fun sounds as you read the story. Here’s our list of fun activities for this week:
Monday – Turn on a steady beat (you can pat one if you don’t have one) and see if we can keep the steady beat while saying all the funny sounds.
Tuesday – Talk about the order of the storybook. What animal do we meet first? What animal or sound do we meet second? Etc. I also think it would be fun to create fun motions for each animal or sound and see if we can put it to the steady beat.
Wednesday – Draw our favorite part of the story.
Thursday – Look back at our fun math and music activity “Hickety, Tickey Bumble Bee” just like the story talks about, but our bee wants to know your name. This is one of our all time favorite activities! Be sure to check it out. Click here: “Hickety Tickety Bumble Bee”
Friday – Read one of our other favorites, the classic Dr. Seuss book, “The Cat and the Hat!” We have a super fun snack and activities planned for this book! You won’t want to miss it!
As you can see it’s going to be a super fun week! As always, we would love to hear from you on how you are celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday!
Don’t worry…we do have some additional SUPER Fun things planned this week! Be sure to follow us this week on our Facebook Page and Instagram! You won’t want to miss it.
