Extension Activities: Farm!

Happy Math and Music Monday!

Have you heard? Last week was a very exciting week! Last week we launched our 10th Math and Music Video and Activities. If you haven’t seen it already, it’s called the Farm! It is one of our NEW favorites! I am also super excited about this week’s blog.   I can’t wait to share with you our experiences doing the new Farm Video and Activities!

Fun Fact

“Children develop math concepts and skills very early in life. From the moment they are born, babies begin to form ideas about math through everyday experiences and, most important, through interactions with trusted adults.” – Jan Greenberg

What we do and say matters! How we talk to our children and include them in our everyday life activities matters! For me, this is exciting and scary all at the same time. Lol It is scary because that means they are always (and I mean ALWAYS) learning and watching, even when we wish they weren’t. But this is also exciting because this means that if we will just include them from time to time in our daily chores and activities, they will be learning too! We can also set up the learning experience in how we talk to our children. By asking meaningful questions during the different daily chores or activities, we can change the whole experience. This month’s learning concept with the Farm video is “Sorting,” It is a PERFECT concept to put this whole idea into action.

Ok – let’s get into this week’s FUN activities with the NEW Farm video! I’ve also included some fun extension activities. I know my girls LOVED them, and I loved them too!

*Special Note: To access this new video you will need to have a login and password. If you are already a member, it’s as simple as clicking “login” and if you don’t have a password, please click on “Forgot Password” and it will send you an email. Then you should be able to reset your password and you will be good to go and able to login. Please feel free to email or message me if you have any trouble! I am happy to help.

Step 1: If you haven’t already done so, go watch and do the new Farm Video and do the Activities. Take a look at us doing the activities.

Watching the Farm Video. For some reason our girls LOVE to act like they are driving the tractor with Connor and Ally Dog!
After we got up and marched around our house, it was time to color, cut and sort our animals.
After we sorted our animals, it was time to build a bar graph and see how many total animals we have on the farm. As you can see, to make each group equal we had to add a few.
Then it was time to do the maze!

Awesome! Wasn’t that so fun? I would love to hear how it went. Please be sure to share on our Facebook page (Ally Dog Depot) or tag me on Instagram @mathandmusicmommy.

Also, be sure to tag a friend you think would LOVE this activity too. It’s important to get all your friend and family signed up THIS WEEK, because our FREE memberships won’t last much longer!

Step 2: Now that you have completed the activities for the Farm video, you’re ready to extend the learning fun! Ok – So I have to confess I LOVE this learning concept! I love it because we use it ALL the time in our everyday lives and chores around the house!

Singing and marching with the Farm Song to do our laundry!
Sister K sorting the clothes.
Sister P sorting the silverware!
Enjoying some "sorted" candy after all that hard work!

Thanks for stopping by!

We hope you all have a wonderful Math and Music Monday or even a wonderful Math and Music WEEK!
