Happy Math & Music Monday!
Is anyone else feeling a little like this yet? Asking themselves, “Are we done yet?” Or, “Is this over yet?” Most days, I’m feeling pretty good about everything… but there are days that I, and even our girls, say, “are we done yet?” Sister P told me the other day, “I love spending this time with you, Mom, but I really miss my friends.” We have a lot of fun together as a family, but we do miss socializing. We miss going to church. Sister K misses going into the store with Dad as his special helper. It’s these things we miss most. But even now, writing these things, I am so grateful for this time together as a family.
“Perseverance (noun): Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.”
I love this quote/definition. It’s perfect for this week’s blog. We can do this. It’s not always easy… but we can get through this, learn from this and be better on the other side. My biggest prayer is that I use this time, cherish this time, and I am better on the other side because of this time that I’ve had with my family.
I thought I would share with you our top 3 things that have really helped us while spending a lot of time together at home. They have been game changers for us and have helped us create some very special memories and stay sane with each other. Lol I hope you find these helpful. As always we would love to hear from you on what is working in your home. I hope you will share or send me an email.
HAVE A SCHEDULE!
This has been a saving grace! It has taken us several week’s to get this all figured out with Pody working from home, the girls having online school, and me still working our on our Ally Dog Depot business. It’s been crazy but we have figured out a plan and a schedule. We learned the power of a schedule when the girls were little… the only way we survived was to keep them on the schedule they were on in the NICU. This was such a blessing for us… and to tell you the truth, we still stick pretty close to that same NICU schedule for eating and sleeping… and the girls are now EIGHT! Lol. I encourage you all to find a schedule that works for your home too. It will be a game changer.
DAILY FAMILY WALKS!
Another thing that has really helped keep us sane during this time is getting outside and taking family walks around the neighborhood. We LOVE spending time outside, but it has been so fun to walk around our neighborhood. I encourage you, especially if you have little ones, take them for a walk… it burns energy and is just good for the soul.
COOKING AND EATING TOGETHER!
It has been SO fun cooking and eating together as a family. We did this some before the virus, but now having Pody home we have REALLY started doing this. It has been so special and so fun. I hope this will be something that really sticks after this is all over. I truly believe that kids can learn while helping… it has been fun working together every day to make our meals and then sit together and talk.
I know this is a crazy time… but I know we can get through it together! Just know I am praying and thinking about you all!
Don’t forget to watch! This week will be week FIVE of our partnership with KFOR-TV’s sister station KAUT Freedom 43! What does this mean, you ask? Great question! We have partnered with our local NBC affiliate to help families keep the learning going while everyone is at home with their children. This partnership means each week, for Fun Friday, we show one of our Math and Music videos and provide one of our extension activities for families to do at home. I’m so very excited to get this opportunity. This is why we made these videos and activities! While I’m sad about everything that is going on in the world around us… I am glad that we can use what we have to help families. So, I encourage you all to watch either online (KFOR.com) or on TV (Channel 43 or Cox Channel 16 in Oklahoma City) Friday mornings at 8:50am CDT.
Also, don’t forget… Our Math and Music membership/subscription on our website for FREE for the first TWO-Weeks after you sign up. This allows you to give it a try and see what we are all about. If you haven’t already, I really encourage you to go check out the new website and be sure to SUBSCRIBE! Without your support, we can’t do what we do. So please help us continue to provide quality learning tools for families.
Please feel free to reach out, email or message me with ANY questions or concerns! I am always here and happy to help in anyway! Thank you again!
